If you are into the social scene in Atlanta, chances are great that you have attended an event coordinated by The Garner Circle PR. The agency's Sports & Lifestyle Director Daniel Dickey has quickly emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the world of Public Relations and Lifestyle Marketing. Daniel oversees the sports, alcohol branding events such as Moet and Chandon’s “Seal it with Rose” Signature Brunch and lifestyle events like the Gillette “Men of Style Awards” hosted by Vivica A. Fox and Fonzworth Bentley.
Daniel’s path to PR was a bit convoluted…he actually has a background in finance. He was bit by the PR bug while in college majoring in Mass Communications and Marketing. He handled all press opportunities for his schools nationally touring College Choir. His first PR/Marketing job was at a consumer banking institution in his native Wilmington, North Carolina. Also an accomplished musician, he moved to Atlanta for the music scene. For him the mortgage crisis was a blessing in disguise and his chance meeting with The Garner Circle’s CEO…fate.
Daniel brings his corporate discipline and firm but fair leadership to the Garner Circle being super on-time to every event, and wielding his ever famous clipboard. He is very detailed and thorough. He will not hesitate to politely make “the crooked straight” ensuring that the agencies clients come first. His love for sports comes through; he is a life long devout Hawks fan and can be found sitting courtside at Phillips Arena as often as time permits; he also coaches youth league basketball & soccer.
Daniel’s strategy when planning sports events to bring sports out of the locker room and into the board room.
With the exception of NBA stars, many athletes are far more comfortable in their sports gear and strongly indentifying with their team. Daniel understands the importance of building their OWN brand especially when they are promoting their foundations, youth camps and other philanthropic projects. Often building their brand includes expanding their wardrobe to include a variety of button down, custom made suits and hard bottom shoes.
The Garner Circle is known for their high brow red carpet events that attract celebrities, media frenzies and elite tastemakers and Daniel insists on that level of excellence when planning sports, lifestyle events and all other PR campaigns he oversees. The agency was founded by PR Maven Nicole Garner; they just recently celebrated their 5 year anniversary and are currently expanding business into film and corporate brands.
Daniel’s highlights include:
• Amar’e Stoudemire’s “Keys to My City” All-Star Weekend 2008 w/ T.I. & Grand Hustle
• Moet and Chandon’s “Seal it with Rose” Signature Brunch
• Gillette Men of Style Awards hosted by Vivica Fox & Fonzworth Bently
• “A Night with King James” (Lebron James & Eighty81)
• The celebrity previews of: DJ Hero and Madden 10
• And numerous professional athletes charity weekends
