In Wilmington, NC…aka the Port City you run up on some beautiful women..but the women who intrigue me the most are the “around the way” girls that are the home girl from across the street but have model tendencies…I talked about my neighbor, but this one woman is a football player…yes, I said football player…mother, hair stylist, and fashionista in her on right! Ladies and Gentlemen…Terisha “Tee-Tee” Batson!

Now…how did you get into this Female Flag Football League?

Hey boo I created the league! Lol j/k. I and 2 of my best friends were at a Wilmington Tigers game in 09 and we were feeling the game and started joking around about what silly nicknames we would have if we played football. So a few days went by and we were trying to figure a good fund raiser for our group Almost Famous which helps parents to keep their kids in school and occupied. Then, bingo how about a flag football game and there we would ask for donations towards Almost Famous, after the fund raiser I got so many calls from women around town that wanted to play football. Now we are 3 years in and it gets better day by day! Shot out to PC Triple FL!!

I know it sounds crazy, but how did folks look at the pretty girls all playing on one team…did you set that up? Lol

Honestly our team was picked from a basket!! Lol I had nothing to do with it!

Being an innovator is some time followed by haters and jealousy...how do you deal with that?
B I don’t deal with it. I am a people’s person with a short tolerance and I just don’t have time for it, I just smile.

A lot of pretty women are not models…I’ve always asked you this…are you going to jump into that more seriously now?

I ask myself everyday “Tee is that really what you want to do”, and it’s always the same answer: nope just stay behind the curtain. make-up and hair! I just love the camera and i find it the most fun when I’m in-front of it, but when offers come my way I take them without hesitation. But who knows what the future holds for me.

What do you think of the model industry now for “urban” models? Should we use that title?

WOW is what I think. I think a lot of them are doing it bigger than ever, from Lisa Ray doing her thing back in the day, to Buffy tha Body and Keyshia Dior representing now. I mean with the urban community being their panel of judges these women have had doors open for them in an awesome way. They have Best seller books, lipstick lines, hosting parties, acting and so on. As far as the title “urban model” the name will never go anywhere and I like it.

When you are going into a photo-shoot what gets you motivated to put on for the camera?

Lol believe it or not, you know how Beyoncé has Sasha Fierce I have Lady Pink, when the lights are in my face and the camera is on, so is Lady Pink. She gets Tee-Tee motivated!!

Being attractive gives you some extra attention…the readers probably want to know do you already get attention from a boo...or you keeping it single nowadays?

Well readers I’m taken, I have 2 kids and I have been with their father for 14 years…..yes I said it 14 years, that’s my best friend!

What do you think is a misconception of models in the industry?

A lot of people think that they are all anorexic or dumb and even on drugs! It’s funny to me, these “misconceptions”.

If you could tell young girls about modeling what would you say? (

Modeling is everything you make of it. There isn’t a certain way you have to do the job just be yourself!

Maaaan..I know I have interviewed some great models, but what about the girl next door? Literally, I had to hit my neighbor up because she has jumped into the modeling game…What’s crazy is that I have known her for a while now and didn’t think that way about her…so I had to show some love!

Let everyone know who you are and where you are from… My name is Jaye L and I'm from a small town in NC. Matter fact it's so small my uncle is the mayor! N A V!

What got you into modeling? I always thought you were a tomboy…lol
Well back in the day when Blackplanet was like Twitter is now I used to post lots of pictures. One day this little boy name JL from Charlotte told me I should try modeling. It caught me off guard because it was right after I had my daughter. So I was like no who want's to see me? I'm not skinny! To prove me wrong he made a Yahoo group full of my pictures that I took with a web cam and I think in about 2 weeks I had 1000 members. It was shocking. That was back in 04 so I've been secretly doing it off and on for a while LoL. As far being a tomboy I still get down and dirty for mine, nothings changed!

Everybody has their own definition of modeling…what is yours?
My definition of modeling I would say is inner beauty. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside because there is somebody for everybody. Its what's inside you that makes your beauty on the outside show.

All of a sudden in the modeling industry women with large bottoms (booty as like to say) have become the new thing…why do you think it is a need for more full-figure models now than before? I think it's because we represent what's real. There are so many young girls who've had self esteem issues with their bodies which led to illnesses such anorexia and bulima. Seeing that bigger women can be beautiful, and successful they learn to embrace their bodies.

Do you think magazines are showing more of the girl next door than the glamour model now? How is your take on the “urban” models getting more work than their counterparts? I think magazines are showing it 50/50. There are glamour magazines and then there are urban magazines. So as of yet I don't see them clashing with each other. As far as getting more work there are jobs out there for all models, I don't think it would be a problem.

Jumping on the personal side just a little..What is the best way for a guy to get noticed by you and once he does how does he keep your attention? To get my attention he must be fly in all aspects. Head to toe with great conversation. To KEEP my attention, now that's the hard part. I don't want his life to revolve around me, I would just like to know that I'm in it. So throughout the day I'd like to know that I'm on his brain with occassional texts. Not ALL day but just to let me know he's thinking of me. I shouldn't wake up and not hear from him until evening. I mean really. LoL

Every man has some type of fantasy and on a whole most women believe it is_______(finish the sentence) having a threesome.

Lastly, what is a big turn OFF to you? Too much pride! Trust me there is a such thing.

DJs: Are We REALLY Breaking Records?

What’s good everyone? I want to address a topic that has garnered a number of questions and concerns over the years. Are DJs REALLY breaking records? You will be surprised at some of the responses.

Over the years, our role as DJs has changed, allowing our craft to be in the forefront of the industry—however there are still a few of us that have become lazy and stale in our approach. With digital technology and the Internet, DJs in my opinion have lost some of the edge that is required. Back in the day, artists servicing records to DJs, getting on the phone, and traveling to their cities were ways for us to build relationships and effectively work records. Now with the Internet, the servicing of records to DJs, different DJ coalitions, etc. the personal touch has been lost. It now comes down to a few of us that actually reach DJs with our brand and music. What can we do to help break these records? Here are a few things that if used effectively, will give artists an edge in music distribution and radio/club play.

First, artists need to support the various DJ coalitions (Core DJs, Coast 2 Coast DJs, Hittmen DJs, Cool Runnings DJs, etc.) and their movements. Go to their sites, see what type of traffic they are generating, come up with a business model, and do some real business. These organizations are here to help artists grow and distribute their music. Once you have participated in a meet and greet or industry mixer, it’s up to you—the artist—to follow up with the DJ via email, Twitter, and Facebook. Keep building your relationships with the DJs and find out how they are playing the record. Now, there are a few DJs unfortunately that get lost in the shuffle and have forgotten the art of breaking music. Those individuals may need to find a different career.

Second, set a budget aside to do a serious Internet/viral campaign. The Internet is the new “Street Team” approach to breaking records. All of the various e-blast services should be used to service your record. Do not hesitate—set aside about $2500 and make it happen. McDonald’s spends close to $2 million a week to brand and market its product. As an artist, you have to do the same. Generate as much buzz as you can, and Internet hits via tags and blog placements. If I can Bing or Google you and see pictures of your performances, videos, song placements, etc., there are real tangible numbers and stats that can be used to get you that deal you’re looking for. Also take advantage of websites like DJDataLinc.com, which is a site that DJs use to track their club spins (like a BDS for the club DJ). Find out if your DJ in your market is involved with that site, or any other that can give you some tracking information.

Lastly, get in your car, van, truck, or bus and travel to these markets and visit the DJs, the clubs, and the radio stations. This still works! Go to the beauty/barber shops, malls, schools, train stations—anywhere that there’s traffic and work. You will be surprised at the results. Do not be afraid to try something different; that can be the difference between your record jumping off or not. As DJs, we have a lot of tools that we can use to help artists be successful. Look at what you do as a business and not a hobby. Set it up that way, and the results will be what you expect.

How did you get into modeling industry?
I got into the industry back in 2004 just attending NY parties, dancing around as if I was a video Vixen.

Everybody has there definition of modeling…what is your definition of modeling?
My definition is being versatile not just showing ass but your face and your beauty. I do editorial, glamour high fashion. "Think outside the Box"

What are some misconceptions of models?
That all models are "Ass" models...I think every model should expand and do different things and not just Ass shots. #imjustsaying.

A lot of women think that models are exploited…do you feel that way?
Hmmmm Not all But some.... Its how you carry yourself. And how you take on a gig.

I know that you have been in several publications but what is your most memorable spread that made you say wow…folks are checking for me?
Of course the Straight Stuntin Mag...shout out to DJ KaySlay. My first spread was hot but my second spread people would say "Got Damn" Niagra your really on your grind.

Some people would consider your look very exotic…how do you describe your style?
I say exotic as well... unique,edgy and will take risk on any hairstyle.
I'm just that fly...Thank You Allah for my beautiful Appearance.

What is the next move on the chessboard for MISS NIAGRA FALLZ?
Hmmm...I have a model group called Pink Jerzie Roze' that consist of 7 models. I'm working on more content for my website. I'm sending out more photos to magazines and for videos.

If you are into the social scene in Atlanta, chances are great that you have attended an event coordinated by The Garner Circle PR. Maaaaaaaaaan...What can I say? About 3 months ago I spoke with Carolina Torch (the General) on my way home from the radio station. He said, "B, what single on the new album do you think we should pick?" I responded, let me listen and I will call you right back." When I called Carolina Torch back I couldnt really pick one song that stood out to me because there were so many good tracks that I had heard and Torch just chuckled and said, "I told you."

With that being said, since I moved back to the Port City, Most High has always been mentioned when you talk about Port City independent artists. With the loss of their member Ronsin, it seemed as if it made thier rhymes stronger and more insightful. The distinct rattle toned voice of Nutty, the cool and collected female counter part Chetta Netta and the General Carolina Torch who is looked at as a mentor for some indie artists in the Port they form the group Most High and new album the Nine Dime.

This album is definitely a classic. As they take you into their world on the eastside of the Port City and show you what they have gone through as well as what to expect from being a straight up individual. The Keep Haten track and the Dats that Bullshhhhh record opens up the door for their Eastside extended family and could totally be a single for the group.

I know I'm not supposed to say but my favorites are I'm a SHine, Things Done Changed and of course the Stand Up featuring C-Murder recording which they dedicate to Kwame Teague for the on going trial of an alleged murder that was put on Kwame based off of finding a mixtape with his fingerprints on it.
